A
driver who failed to stop after hitting and killing a 19-year-old woman
in a Northridge crosswalk was arrested, Los Angeles police said today.
Marcia
Roberts, 42, of Northridge, was booked on suspicion of felony
manslaughter while driving under the influence after she allegedly ran
a red light at Devonshire Street and Lindley Avenue at about 5:25 p.m.
Tuesday, hitting the woman who was walking in the crosswalk, said Los
Angeles Police Officer Julianne Sohn.
The 19 year-old, who was from Palmdale, died at the scene, Sohn said. Her name has not yet been released.
Roberts
fled the crash scene in her Jeep Cherokee, but police found her parked
a few blocks away on Devonshire Street and arrested her, Sohn said. She
was being held on $50,000 bail, according to the Los Angeles County
Sheriff's Department jail records.
